VACUUM FORMING

Vacuum Forming Technology

Vacuum forming is an estabished process that has been used for many years for the manufacture of a wide range of parts.

In essence, the process comprisises a thermoplastic sheet, heated to a pliable state, placed over a mold and drawn into the mold to the shape of the finished part.

Recent developments in thermoplastic materials and in machine design have enabled much higher quality, higher volume parts to be produced. This has been crucial in the evolution of the FIM process, enabling automtive, medical and telecomms components to be produced at low unit cost.
