Pressure forming systems are an essential part of the FIM process.

These systems are available from a number of manufacturers and operate by a combination of pressure and heat to form plastic sheet or web over a mould tool.

Tool shapes can be complex and recent developments in thermoplastic materials and machine design have enabled much higher quality, higher volume parts to be produced.

This has been crucial in the evolution of the FIM process, enabling automotive, medical and telecomms components to be produced at low unit cost.
